tips
installing euro hangers on metal frame
1. Prepare the Frame:
Lay your metal frame face down on a soft, flat surface to avoid scratches.
2. Install the Euro Hangers:
Position the Hangers:
Place the Euro hangers on the side rails of the metal frame about 1/3 of the way down from the top of the frame. This is generally the best height for hanging.
Use a measuring tape to ensure both hangers are evenly spaced from the top.
Attach the Hangers:
Slide the Euro hangers into the frame's channel at the marked positions and tighten them using a screwdriver or Allen wrench.
Check Alignment:
Ensure hangers are at the same height using a measuring tape. Adjust if necessary.
3. Attach the Picture Wire:
Cut the Wire:
Measure a length of picture wire that is about the width of the frame and add 5-7 inches. This will give you enough wire to securely wrap around the hangers.
Secure the Wire to One Hanger:
Thread one end of the wire through the loop or hole in one of the Euro hangers.
Wrap the wire around itself several times to ensure it is secure.
For extra security, you can create a small loop around the hanger before wrapping the wire around itself. (See illustration below)
Attach the Wire to the Other Hanger:
Stretch the wire across the back of the frame to the second Euro hanger. Make sure there is some slack in the wire so it can hang properly, usually about 1/3 of the way down from the top of the frame when pulled taut.
Thread the other end of the wire through the loop or hole in the second hanger.
Wrap the wire around itself several times, just like you did with the first hanger.
Trim any excess wire with wire cutters.
care and cleaning of acrylic glass
1. General Handling
Avoid Scratches: Acrylic glass is more prone to scratches than regular glass. Handle with clean hands and avoid contact with sharp objects or rough surfaces.
2. Cleaning
Use a Soft Cloth: Clean acrylic glass with a microfiber or soft cotton cloth. Avoid using paper towels or abrasive materials, as they can scratch the surface.
Mild Cleaning Solution: Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution. A mixture of warm water and a small amount of dishwashing liquid is effective. For commercial products, look for cleaners specifically formulated for acrylic.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use window cleaners, ammonia-based products, alcohol, or acetone, as these can damage or cloud the acrylic surface.
Gentle Cleaning Technique:
Dampen the soft cloth with the mild cleaning solution.
Wipe the acrylic gently in a circular motion. Avoid applying too much pressure.
Rinse the cloth with clean water and wipe the surface again to remove any soap residue.
Dry the acrylic with a clean, dry microfiber cloth using light, sweeping motions.
3. Removing Scratches
Minor Scratches: For light scratches, you can use a plastic polish or an acrylic scratch remover. Follow the product's instructions carefully.
Deeper Scratches: If the scratch is deeper, you may need to use a fine-grit polishing compound specifically designed for acrylic. It's advisable to consult a professional for deeper scratch removal.
4. Protection and Maintenance
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause acrylic to yellow over time. Place the framed artwork in a location away from direct sunlight.
Regular Dusting: Dust the acrylic glass regularly using a soft, dry microfiber cloth to prevent the buildup of dirt and dust particles, which can cause scratching during cleaning.
Storage: If the acrylic glass needs to be stored, keep it in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources. Store it flat or upright with proper support to prevent warping.
